Hyderabad, India — Skyroot Aerospace has officially entered the history books by becoming the first private Indian company to successfully place a rocket into orbit.
On July 18, 2026, the company's Vikram-1 launch vehicle lifted off from ISRO's First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota at 12:05 PM IST.
Approximately fifteen minutes after liftoff, the rocket successfully reached a 450-kilometre Low Earth Orbit (LEO), making India only the third nation after the United States and China to demonstrate private-sector orbital launch capability.
